Inline links appear in body text. Never include two directly adjacent links in body text. If you have more than two links in a paragraph of body text, consider using standalone links instead.

Usage context
When to use
Use links to encourage users to navigate somewhere, such as:
- Another content area (as in a jump link)
- Another page on the same website
- Another website
You may also use links to encourage users to take an action when a button is not appropriate. Actions that commonly use links instead of buttons include:
- Opening a document in a new tab
- Opening an email program
- Starting a phone call
When to use something else
Don’t use a link for the primary or secondary action in a content area (such as submitting a form). Use a button instead.
Usage guidelines
We do not use external link icons. If a link is going to a site outside the nyc.gov digital network, use link text that describes the destination.
